To Our Residents, Friends, and Family:
We know many of you are concerned about the spread of COVID-19 (the new coronavirus) and how it may impact us here at The Willows of Marshalltown. Ensuring our residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment is our top priority. We don’t have any cases at The Willows of Marshalltown. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended a variety of steps that we are implementing to help protect our residents and ensure they are safe and healthy.
We are reinforcing our policies and procedures for contagious illnesses such as influenza. These include reminders about flu vaccines, washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, staying home when sick, and taking flu antivirals as prescribed.
However, we need your help in preventing COVID-19. Below are some examples of how you can help protect our residents, as well as prevent the spread throughout the community.
Currently, we request that family and friends do not visit The Willows. Out of an abundance of caution, we are limiting all visitors to The Willows unless absolutely necessary. We are posting signs on our entryway doors to notify visitors of this policy and actively screening individuals, including staff, who need to come into the building. In a further effort to protect our residents, we are postponing all events until this concern has abated.
We understand that connecting with your loved ones is incredibly important, and there are a variety of other ways you might consider communicating with them. These may include telephone, email, text, video chat or social media. Please feel free to contact The Willows if you would like assistance with these communications.
If you feel a visit to your loved ones at The Willows is necessary, we request that you contact us prior to your arrival. You will be asked to follow the recommendations of the CDC on prevention steps, including following strict hand-washing procedures.
The Willows is staying up to date with the CDC recommendations as they may continue to change. In addition, The Willows of Marshalltown is in close contact with the local, state, and national health agencies, and we are following their guidance and will update messaging, guidance and policies based on the latest information and recommendations. We are exercising the utmost caution to protect our resident’s health and wellbeing.
The Willows is well prepared for this and any health emergency and we will keep you informed on the precautions that we are taking to ensure our residents stay happy and healthy.
